Zesco face Blades, target 16th win

ZESCO United will be targeting the 16th win of the season on Sunday when they face Konkola Blades in a Super Division Week 22 match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Zesco will be in action 24 hours after Zanaco and Power Dynamos matches.

Zanaco host Nakambala Leopards on Saturday while Power face rivals Nkana in a Kitwe derby on the same day.

Zanaco and Power have 42 points apiece, seven behind leaders Zesco.

The match will be preceded by a lunch time kick off between Forest Rangers and Mufulira Wanderers.

Zesco are favourites to win and move closer to the fifth Super Division title.

The Ndola side will look to inform striker Winston Kalengo for goals.

Kalengo is on top of his game and scored a brace in last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Red Arrows in Lusaka.

He is the Super Division topscorer with 11 goals and coach George Lwandamina will rely on him to ‘electrocute’ Blades.

Kalengo will partner Jackson Mwanza in attack as Zesco seek completing a double over Blades whom they beat 1-0 in Chililabombwe.

Veteran Jonas Sakuwaha is an option for goals.

Misheck Chaila, Mwape Mwelwa, Justin Zulu and Cletus Chama will control proceedings in midfield in a 4:4:2 formation.

But Blades buoyed by last Saturday’s 3-0 victory over National Assembly will aim at causing an upset.

However the strikers should work hard to bleach the Zesco backline of Simon Silwimba, Ayo Aluwafemi, Dauti Musekwa and David Odhiambo.

Skipper Jacob Banda will be in goal.

Blades are 12th on the log with 22 points.
