Zesco United went 9 points clear in the ZSL after beating Nchanga Rangers 2-1 away at Nchanga Stadium in their Week 24 match.
Zesco scored first in the first half when Cletus Chama gave an inch perfect pass to Lazarous Kambole who put the ball past Rangers goalkeeper Jairos Mulenga.
In the second half Zesco continued to pressure and in the 53rd minute Rangers defenders Jimmy Sondashi and Chongo Chirwa blocked shots from Cletus Chama and Winston Kalengo which were destined for the net.
The match changed in the 69th minute when Kenyan International defender David Owino handled in the box and a penalty was given which substitute Clement Mwape converted.
Rangers then started pressuring Zesco and young striker Fashion Sakala gave Owino a torrid time.
Zesco then hit Rangers with a sucker punch scoring against the run of play when Winston Kalengo pounced on a Jimmy Sondashi mistake to slot past Mulenga and give Zesco a 2-1 lead which they held until the end of the match.
Zesco move to 59 points and go 9 points clear of second placed Zanaco while Nchanga Rangers are in 11th place on 27 points.
