Zesco United defender Bornwell Silengo is next month expected to travel to India for specialized treatment on his knee injury after being referred to.
Silengo, who sustained the injury during the CAF champion’s league first leg against Guinea side AS Kaloum at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in March, has been out of action since.
In a letter of reference written by Dr Mulla of St. John Paul II Orthopaedic mission hospital (Italian hospital), dated August 31st, an arthroscopic evaluation was done on the patient.
“The evaluation on the patient revealed the following; a total rapture of his anterior cruciate ligament and a degenerate ulcer in the femoral groove. I recommend that he has an anterior cruciate segment repair which can be done arthroscopically in South-Africa or India,” part of the letter read.
Silengo is currently waiting for his visa and will be escorted by team physiotherapist Chuma Mwiinga and his operation is scheduled to take place at Fortis Hospital next month.
Meanwhile Team Doctor Stephen Mbewe says striker Humphrey Maseneko is recovering well and is scheduled for his next Monday, October 5, 2015.
“Maseneko is recovering well and we are waiting for the doctors from the Italian hospital to review him and tell us the way forward, as for Nyambe, he has made really steady progress and we have continued to monitor his recovery process,” he told www.zescounitedfc.com
Mbewe says no one in the team is nursing an injury and everyone in the team is fit for selection ahead of the week 26 game against Green Eagles in Choma on Saturday.
