Mwanza, Ching'andu, and Mbombo score as Zesco United hammer Mimosas | Taliana Vargas reports

Jackson Mwanza set the hosts on their way with a long-range effort before John Ching'andu converted a free kick to notch the second with a cool finish. Idriss Mbombo's 80th-mintue strike gave Zesco United their third to complete the rout. The ease with which Zesco United strolled to victory bodes well for their trip to Ivory Coast later this month, where a win will all but secure progression from Group A.

But more pleasing for the Blues will be the performance of Mbombo, who showed some of the ability that led to Zesco United paying Kabwe Warriors for his services. The Ivorian visitors were offering little, bar three threatening balls from winger Zakari, a self-proclaimed Zesco United target, all of which came to nothing.

Unbeaten at the Estadio de la Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Zesco United have not lost a Champions League group game at Levy in their entire history. Those moments on the back foot were few and far between for Chelsea, and they rounded off the first half with a deserved 2nd goal when John Ching'andu converted a free kick. With the hosts out of sight, it was like a procession as Chaila and Akumu both tried their luck from distance.
