Ivory Coast league champions Asec Mimosas, beaten 3-1 by Zesco United in Ndola, Zambia, a week and a half ago, took the lead through Ibrahim Kone's header. But the Zambian Super League defending champions equalized when Jackson Mwanza poked in a Clatous Chama delivery from a free kick.
Kenyan striker Jesse Were, should have opened the scoring in the first half, but his shot was saved by the Asec Mimosas goal-keeper. Despite Lwandamina's tactical re-jig, Zesco United fell behind in the 74th minute.
Zesco United's sense of grievance was short-lived. From a Clatous Chama free kick Jackson Mwanza was presented with the simplest of finishes to equalise. As Zesco United pushed hard for a winner, the Asec Mimosas goal-keeper made superb saves to deny Mbombo and Chama.
