Sebastian Mwansa headed in an 89th-minute goal to earn a point for Green Buffaloes and leave Zesco U

The Green Buffaloes goal-keeper Davey Kaumbwa made fine saves to restrict Zesco United to the 1-0 scoreline. Zesco took the lead early on when midfielder Mwape Mwelwa raced into the box and received a pass before beating Kaumbwa with ease.

But Sebastien Mwansa raced into the box to head home in the 89th minute as Green Buffaloes scored a last gasp equalizer against Zesco United as the Estadio de la Independencia ruptured in celebration. Zesco United were left stranded, five points behind leaders Zanaco assuming the defending champions were to win all their games in hand.

Mwansa's goal is a hammer blow for Zesco and a severe punishment for their failure to kill off the game after taking the lead in the early seconds of the game.

The warning signs had been there when Green Buffaloes forced a decent save from Jacob Banda minutes before Mwansa scored. And once the final whistle sounded a chorus of boos rang out across the Estadio de la Independencia from the visiting fans as manager George Lwandamina made his way down the tunnel. But the draw is a superb result for the home team, who now look sure to secure 5th spot.
