Alejandra Buitrago reports from Bogotá, Colombia, as she breaks down how Zlatko Krmpotic will make Z

Looking at the squad that Zesco United have for the 2017 season, it does not look like it will matter to Krmpotic how his team wins, just that they do. The Serbian looks to be set to mastermind a golden era for Zesco United sticking to these principles and despite the Estadio de la Levy Mwanawasa not hosting the glitz and glamour of Mamelodi Sundowns' CBD, they will usually win all the same. And if they don’t win, they will rarely lose.

In fact, lacking the showbiz celebrities of Christopher Katongo and Khama Billiat might be precisely why they will rarely lose. Big money players can, on occasion, grow tired of being forced to relentlessly close down opponents and spend their matches defending outside their own 18 yard box, and while this Zesco United squad is not by any means poor, the squad they have assembled isn't one of individual stars - it is a collective. The collective usually wins.

How will Zlatko do it? The key to it all will be in defensive organisation.

Far from parking the bus, Zesco United have proven ability to aggressively defend the ball like a dog with any sort of toy you give it. Zesco United are good without being superstars, but become a relentless winning machine with intense tenacity and commitment.

Expect Krmpotic to use a variety of formations and players but the underlying philosophy will largely remain the same: defend, be aggressive and score on the counter. Against strong opposition Zesco United usually line up in a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1, sit deep and concede both possession and space to their opponents before bursting forward in quick, devastating attacks.
